TodayBox lives once again. I actually bought this domain over four years ago. Initially only friends and random Googlers stumbled upon the site, but then something happened. In February 2005, Paris Hilton’s cell phone was hacked and some interesting images and celebrity phone numbers from the phone were posted online. Due to a high volume of interest in this content, the original site hosting the phone’s info was down within minutes. I uploaded a mirror to TodayBox and posted the link on Digg.com. TodayBox, as well as Digg, received an enormous amount of traffic. In this BusinessWeek story Kevin Rose (Digg’s founder) says the posting of that story was the first time he saw Digg’s potential.

While exciting for him, the story ended up taking down the shared server I had been using for hosting. My host was less than pleased and immediately killed my account without providing a refund. TodayBox went down that day, and while I continued to renew the domain, I never setup a new blog…until now. Are you ready for the craziness that’s sure to ensue? No? I didn’t think so.
